Awarded to Private George James Connor who served with the 2nd Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry. Queen South Africa, Clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State & Transvaal (5952 PTE G. CONNOR. 2ND D. OF C. LT INFY.). He originally came from the parish of Bethnal Green, London. He joined at the age of 24 years and 2 months. On enlisting his civil occupation was recorded as Warehouseman. He enlisted on the 22nd September 1899 at the Military Depot at Dalston to which he then saw service in the South African Boer War campaign. His service record indicted that he extended his service to 8 years with the Colours. His military service came to an end when he was finally discharged from the army on the 21st September 1908. Further research showed that he is registered in the 1911 Census. All clasps confirmed on service papers. (with copy attestation Service Papers and 1911 Census).
