On the 27th January 1902 notes show on attestations papers his military discharge. He was serving with the 4th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers.Further rolls indicate that he was also awarded the Kings South Africa Medal with clasp South Africa1901 and earlier in his career he was awarded India General Service 1854 with Hazara 1888 Clasp. (with copy attestation papers and medal rolls etc.).
