Awarded to Gunner Percy Grove formerly No.4 Mountain Battery Royal Garrison Artillery and later No. 235 Battery, 32 Brigade Royal Field Artillery and Royal Artillery. Queen South Africa, Clasps Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith (97622 GNR. P. GROVE. 4TH M.B., R.G.A.), Kings South Africa, Clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902  (97622 GNR: P. GROVE. R.G.A.),1914 Star (97622 GN: P.GROVE. R.F.A.) and British War Medal & Victory Medal (97622 GNR. P. GROVE. R.A.). Percy Grove was born in 1873, attested for the Royal Garrison Artillery on the 6th June 1893. Records indicate he served with No. 4 Mountain Battery in South Africa during the Boer War campaign seeing action at the Relief of Ladysmith. He later served at the outbreak of World War One serving at this time with No. 235 Battery, 32nd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front from the 23rd August 1914. Later to be discharged from No. 22 Reserve Battery on the 15th August 1915. Records show he received the ‘SWB’ Silver Wound Badge as recorded in the SWB roll.
