Awarded to 108083 Second Air Mechanic Victor Derham of the Royal Air Force formerly Royal Flying Corps. British War Medal (10883. 2. A.M. V. DERHAM. R.A.F.). Victor Derham was born in1899 in the Parish of East Grinstead, Sussex. He joined the then Royal Flying Corps on the 8th December 1917. Saw service in French Theatre of Operations from 21st March 1918 until 15th August 1919. After all hostilities had ceased papers indicate he was selected as aircrew serving on the new R33 British Airship built by Armstrong-Whitworth at Barlow, North Yorkshire. Originally built for the Royal Naval Air Service but was later amalgamated into the Royal Air Force. Second Air Mechanic Victor Derham saw service onboard between 24th September 1919 until 21st January 1921. Few months later records show he was discharged from service on the 8thMarch 1921.
