Period brass cap badge depicting arm holding a wheat sheath at centre of badge. Underneath a scroll with the words ‘SISiT PRUDENTIA’ in latin, surrounded by the words ‘3^rd (AUCK) REGIMENT N. Z. INFANTRY’. Surrounded on the outside of the badge a wreath of laurel leaves. At the base, scroll reads ‘COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN’. At top kings crown. On reverse of badge at back of crown, maker ‘ J.R. Gaunt. London’ stamped on a small plaque. Loops present.
