Awarded to Second Lieutenant Peter Thomas Campbell of the 1/6th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. British War Medal and Victory Medal (2.LIEUT. P. T. CAMPBELL.). Peter Thomas Campbell, born in 1894 in Duddingston in Scotland. In 1914 service papers indicate he joined the Territorial Army and at time of joining his civilian occupation. In 1914 service papers indicate he joined the Territorial Army and at time of joining his civilian occupation was recorded as Builder Contractor. Second Lieutenant Peter Thomas Campbell enlisted in the Army as a Private on the 6th September 1914, serving with the 9th Highland Light Infantry. He rose through the ranks to the rank of Sergeant on the 22nd May 1915 whilst still with the 9th Highland Light Infantry, Territorial Forces. Records show he was commissioned into the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on the 28th May 1915. Later joining the 1st/6th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and as part of the 5th Division seeing service in the French Theatre of Operations in France. The pair is recorded as his only medal entitlement.(with copy MIC, medal roll and attestation papers).
